Guy Adami began his career in 1986 on the commodity desk of Drexel Burnham Lambert. He was quickly promoted to chief gold trader where is clients included legendary investors Sir James Goldsmith and Kerry Packer. In 1996 he joined J. Aron, the commodity and currency division of Goldman Sachs where he worked directly for Lloyd Blankfein and Gary Cohn. In 2005, CNBC approached Adami with an idea for a yet to be named show about Wall Street traders and in early January 2007, Fast Money was launched as a daily one hour show. Adami is the only remaining person from the original cast.

Currently, Guy is the director of advisory advocacy at Private Advisor Group in Morristown, N.J. Private Advisor is the largest office under LPL Financial Holdings with over 600 advisors in 34 states with assets approaching $20B. In addition, Adami is an exclusive member of Keppler Speakers where he keynotes conferences all over the country. He is on the national board of Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as Invest in Others. He is also the vice chair of the NJ Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In August 2012, Adami completed the first ever NYC Ironman in 16 hours and 19 minutes. Adami was inducted into the Croton Harmon High School Hall of Distinguished Graduates in 2010 and was named the NJ Man of the Year by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2015. Adami is a 1986 graduate of Georgetown University and received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Quinnipiac University in May of 2014.
